Game #5: Mercy Me!

This week's recap provided by Backup Team Journalist Cindy Cordova!

Mercy, mercy, mercy!

So the Nuts were winning 2-0 for the longest time (like 5 minutes) then got into a bit of trouble and our lead slightly vanished with a final score of 17-2. The game ended way too soon, if only Blue would have given us 10 more minutes I know we could have rallied.

Some brief highlights:

* Jason “Brick Wall” Pischer made a stellar catch at short by leaping into the sky to kill a line drive.

*Boylan's daughter contributed jello shots in shootable syringes (does she think she's going to put me out of business? I think NOT!)

*Kara “Visors are Hot” Perkins still wore her visor even though the sun was down

*Criselle and Raquel looked fabulous! Hair, make up…they really outdid themselves this week!

*Rick “Roadrunner” Radvansky - still the quickest feet in the league.

*Dawn wore contact lenses for the first time. She didn't disappoint with a twirl at the plate.

*Marydale's husband now knows we really don't know her name.

*CO really was in the Know this week with a fabulous base hit - no fielding errors were involved - just a real base hit.

*Jenna “Don’t Step on my Blue Suede Shoes” Purcella caught an awesome line drive to 2nd - looked like a pro and promptly pointed at the adoring fans in recognition.

*Sean “The Boyle” Boylan not only pitches - he dives for ground balls - we don't call him "reflex" for nothin’.

*The other team asked if our team always does cartwheels in the outfield (I think Dawn and Caron were both responsible for this).

*Lori Erdman did the wave....all by herself

*The ump openly acknowledged that we've got the best damn fans he's ever seen!!!!

Side note: Be sure to check out the piece of Mexican chocolate permanently embedded in the concrete from last week's piñata extravaganza. It’s there, I swear.

Next week: think pink!
