Game Recap #2

O'Connell's was way too smug ... and they actually had *zero* cheering fans, so what's that say? Nobody likes them! Popularity is everything in life, you know ... so when it comes down to it, the 'Nuts actually like totally won.

So if it wasn't for that really big first inning, the 'Nuts really could have hung in there. They seemed to get more comfortable as the game went on. Due to the early-game jitters, it was recommended that the team partake in mandatory shots (either jello shots or "jesus juice" cocktails) prior to every game to soothe the nerves.

Let's give some shout-outs to some spectacular plays ... like Caron "CO In The Know" Oberg totally stopping a screaming line drive with her glove! It was hard to tell who was more surprised, Caron or the runner on second, but she did get a nice compliment from one of the smug O'connell's bastards on her defense! *And* she got a nice purple bruise on her finger as a memento of her spectacularness.

Ok, and jason pischer's consecutive home run streak remains alive!! it was totally cool when he stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded .... flips his lid .... and blasts the ball completely out of the park on the first pitch!!! the best part was watching the other team's outfielder who didn't even move, since everyone knew it was out of the park the minute the ball left his bat! balls that travel that far should have a stewardess on them!! yay!!

So there was an interesting strategery employed in this game, along the lines of 'if you can't beat them, bean them.' Kara Perkins totally threw the ball *at* an O'connell's baserunner ... nailing the guy at home! he was totally helpless as she fired a shot that he totally ran into ... smacking him right in the chest making that thud/slap sound of a ball hitting flesh. it was totally cool!

But let's hear it for the player of the game ... Raquel Bazan! She deftly moved from right field to third base and showed no fear in handling the hot corner. she used her face and chest to block some balls and even did a little spin move to throw off the baserunners! it was really hot ... pirouettes are neat!

Darryl "Double-D" Dearborn also had a fabulous home run, but there's some crazy a** rule that he had to remain at first until the other team hits one (whatever, they only hit like a billion). anyway, you're a home run in our books, DD!

The fans really made the difference in this game. Big upps to Cindy Cordova, Lori Erdman, "Team Mattscot" Ceppi, Marydale and hubby, the two nice girls from accounting, Rosa and her family, and the two bums who showed up late reeking of Wild Turkey!

Same bat time, same bat channel next week! 7:45 p.m. at Joe Rodgers Field. be there!

CD's Fashion Tip of the Week

Let's try working some stirrups into the uniforms! They will elongate the leg and give the illusion of speed. Plus it looks totally old skool ... and that's hot!
